AI Takes a Seat at Biscuit Studios

“Do you guys use AI in the studio?”

When I first heard about ChatGPT over a year ago, I was in the middle of a meeting with a client and about 15 other people. He asked us, “How many of you have played around with ChatGPT?”. Several people raised their hands – I was embarrassed that I had never heard of it, so I immediately Googled it. The person beside me saw what I was doing, sent me a link, and whispered, “You have to set up an account and do it now because they are only letting a small number of users in.”

I set up my account right then and took it for a test drive – doing the usual first-time-user prompts:

  • Write a haiku about needing a haircut.
  • Create an authentic Spanish paella recipe.
  • Write a song about drinking beer on the front porch.

The interaction started out as entertainment for me – really allowing me to get in touch with my inner child (queue stupid fart jokes and silly limericks about farm animals). But as I began to use it daily, I discovered that it was way more powerful from a business standpoint than I initially imagined. Prompts moved into a whole different territory:

  • Write an email reminding clients to pay their late invoice or they will incur late fees of 5% per month dating back to the original due date.
  • I’m looking for good software advertising video examples that are short and simple and don’t have any voice overs.
  • I’m trying to migrate a site using Local by Flywheel to Kinsta… the migration plugin is called WP Migrate Pro… and the error code is “cURL error 6: Could not resolve host”. Any ideas what’s causing this?

Since then, we have upgraded to the paid version of ChatGPT 4.0 and have adapted to using it throughout our day. Tasks that would typically take a good chunk of time from our daily design and creativity flows, are now only distracting us for a few minutes. So to answer that question, “YES. We use AI in the studio.”

Below is a list of AI solutions that we are currently using at Biscuit.

Daily AI Tools

ChatGPT 4.0 has become an essential part of our daily operations. Whether we need help with writing, coding, optimizing for SEO, or even just using it instead of searching for stuff on Google – it provides quick results, saving us the time we’d otherwise spend scouring the internet. Grammarly also keeps our writing sharp and relevant to our intended audiences, ensuring every word is polished before it goes live.

Weekly AI Tools

We will sometimes use Claude for writing projects, from refining web content to client communications. Its AI capabilities help us produce content that’s clear and engaging. For photo editing, Photoshop AI is our go-to, enabling us to fine-tune images and add creative touches that make our visuals stand out.

Here’s an example of how GenAI is making us look like rock stars. Something – like removing a porta potty or cars from the background of a photo – which used to take hours to fix, can be done in seconds.

Monthly AI Tools

About once a month, we turn to Midjourney or Dall-E to help us create unique graphics for our clients that are otherwise unavailable on stock imagery websites. The outcomes of these platforms are typically hit or miss, and often lack elements that we would expect to see. However, there are situations where they help us with brainstorming, giving us the ability to quickly visualize ideas in ways we couldn’t before.

Using these AI tools lets us really hone in on what we love—design. They give us extra time to come up with creative solutions for our clients –  instead of drafting emails about late invoices or fixing code errors. We firmly believe that in order to remain knowledgeable about technology, you have to use the latest technology.

We are in the process of crafting a detailed blog post that explores the innovative ways we are harnessing AI tools to enhance our clients’ WordPress sites. With the addition of these tools, we are aiming to streamline website functionality, improve user experience, and optimize content management. There’s a lot of exciting progress to share, and we can’t wait to show you how these advancements can make a real difference for our clients!
